At 07th of June 2004 the first plank was fastened at the bulkheads of the hull. |
The hull is planked with balsa wood ledges, which have a material thickness of 2.0 mm. The superstructure is created of 1.2 mm thick beech ply wood. For sealing and reinforcement of the hull has been painted four times with "G4-Finish". |
The foredeck
with
anchour winch and bollards. Though plastic has it advantages I prefer wood and metal for the creation of my ships and I try to create as much as possible by hand. |
The
stern vertical spill, bollards and stair cases. The stair cases
as well as the decks are not glued so far since it appears easier to color them later. |
Due
I don't own a turning lathe the manufacturing of conical turned parts
represents an extraordinary defiance :). For the creation of the radar
therefore the upper part of an ballpoint pen was abused. Though plastic has it advantages I prefer wood and metal for the creation of my ships and I try to create as much as possible by hand. |
The anchour winch consits of wood except of the two cranks for the brakes. |
I colored my
first model the fire fighter after it was built completely what emerged
quite difficult. That's why I'll color the single
components before I
glue them this time. Though nowadays many model ship builders color their ships with air brush I still do it the old way with a brush. |
The erection of the ship
