The original
The antetype for this model is the pilot cutter "Kommodore
Rolin". The
model was built based on a drawing that is published by the
"vth-Verlag".
The ship was built in 1958 and served as a mobile pilot station
in the North Sea till the year 2000. Due no appropriate
purchaser was found the ship finally was scraped.
At the end of this page the interested visitor can find some links
giving an impression of the original "Kommodore Rolin".
The model
The "Kommodore" was the first rc-model built only based on a drawing,
what is a peculiar defiance due the creator has to decide how to cut
the single sections in order to grant access to the installed
rc-components and
for maintenance. Further one has to decide which materials shall be
utilised and a continuous prey on cheap materials and components starts
(Nobody can
affort to buy all the parts in official model shops).
Regarding the quality of the drawing it
can be said with hindsight, that the drawing lacks some details but
compared to other -maybe more detailed drawings- it was quite
cheap. A very helpful source during the creation period were
the pictures
I found in the internet. On the other side it has to be stated that
depending on the claim and the skill of each model builder one might
come to an other conclusion.
