Supply Vessel Pacific Buccaneer

Skelett des Bohrinselversorgers

Since we traveled to the destination of our summer holiday by train there was time to study a model ship magazine after a long time. My interest was captured especially by a meeting for offshore vessels in the Netherlands and the fotos depicted in this report. And that was when I was taken by this "model-building-fever" again!

After completing that contruction kit of the steam tug "Canute" I decided to create my next model only based on a drawing, what is an extraordinary defiance due the builder has to care for the division of the sections, for the applied materials and further he has to invent solutions for all the single functions the model finally shall provide.

After investigating the internet some evenings according an appropriate drawing I finally decided to invest the money for a plan of the offhore supply vessel "Pacific Buccaneer" that is provided by "Kagelmacher"

It took another week till I held the drawings (3 pages, A0) in my hands. The delivery was peped up with a CD with many pictures containing details of the model that proved very helpful during the process of erection. The scale of the ship is 1:50 what leads to a total length of 1.32 m. The foto above depicts the skeleton of the supply vessel (keel and ribs) beside the planked hull of the steam tug "Canute". Both models are build in the same scale what gives an impression of their real size.

The following pages may serve for the documtenation of the building process of the model that started in August 2012 and is still ongoing ...
