Bordwand Gitter auf dem Arbeitsdeck The errection proceeded with the manufacturing of the ship's sides as well as the side panels of the working deck. The choosen material was plywood again. Due the exact dimensions and postions of the freeing ports couldn't be taken from the drawing various pictures served for the estimation of these measures.
Verholwinde Gitter auf dem Arbeitsdeck Furthermore two vertical winches, four hatches and four return pulleys which are positioned between the crash barrier and ship's side were manufactured.
Analysing the pictures of other models one finds that the ships distinguish a lot from each other in this details since the drawing doesn't show them clearly.
The configuration displayed at the pictures beside was taken from the book "Supply Ship Operations" of Victor Gibson who served as a Master on the UT 720 Pacific Blade.

Poller Gitter auf dem Arbeitsdeck On top of the crash barrier a brass pipe with a diameter of 3mm is fixed.
The bollards also consist of brass and are fixed in the deckframe of the hull.
The purpose of  pipe construction on top crash barrier is to avoid that the tug wire slides too far forward. One danger hereby is that the superstructure coud be damaged by the wire and further the vessel might capsize in case the towing forces on port or starboard get too strong.
Poller After so many details here a foto of the complete ship. (A click on the foto allows to zoom into the picture ...)

In the next step a rack for the model was created. Since the pedestal should get coloured with teak oil it was necessary to apply the paint before gluing the assembly in order to avoid ugly spots.

The anchour spill is an extraordinary subassambly for every model ship. Therefore this detail is zoomed out in the drawing in the scale 2:1 unfortunately the real scale 1:0.67.
Due to the poor print quality of the drawing it was difficult to recognise the details. Fortunately the homepage ShipsAndOil.Com provides  some  fotos of the foreship.

Bugfender 1 Bugfender 2 Initially the position of the pillars of the bowfender was marked on the foreships deck. In the next step the pillars have been manufactured as displayed in the drawing. Since the fender is sloped inward it appeared reasonable to prepare a stencil of carton. Afterward I was able to create the fender of wood and the strong curved front part of poly sytrol.

Bugfender 1 Bugfender 2 The last weeks were spent by manufcturing further details of the foreship.

David 1 David 3 This week was marked by the production of the davit for the FRC (Fast Rescue Craft). Though the drawing shows the crane as a detail it was not possible to detect all measures from the plan. As visible in the pictures depicted beside the device still doesn't work properly. Before adapting the davit I appears reasonable to create the speed boat.
